Itinerary Highlights

8:00 AM – Hotel Pickup & Drive to Nong Khiaw: Being picked up by our guide and driver from your hotel in Luang Prabang then take about a 4-hour ride to Nong Khiaw. On the way, the road may not be really good, but the trip will go on smoothly as our local guide will have some stories to tell about the habitant villages on both sides. Of course, there are also some stops for photos and drinks. Very quickly, our car arrives in Nong Khiaw and we check in to the hotel, have some rest, and enjoy a drink—maybe in your room with a view of the river or simply from the guesthouse restaurant view to the river.
12:00 PM – Lunch: Lunch is ready! We enjoy the lunch and rest for a few more minutes for our afternoon excursion.
1:30 PM – Pha Thok Cave Trekking: Meet our guide in the lobby then we start the trip. We will spend some time trekking to visit Pha Thok cave. Pha Thok was used by the Laos Communist Party during the Second Indochina War to shelter from bombs dropped in the area. We will walk you through the rice fields that sustain the local families working their farms and tending their animals in a beautiful valley surrounded by mountains.
Afternoon & Evening – Free & Easy: After visiting the cave, we go back to the guesthouse and it is time for you to be free and easy. Enjoy today's Nong Khiaw in your own way. Some nice restaurants and bars nearby are available, given by the guide or receptionist host.

8:30 AM – Scenic Cruise & Tribal Village Visits: After breakfast in the hotel, we start the day with a boat ride upstream to Muang Ngoi (approx. 1 hour cruise). During the cruise, you will see the unique river and limestone scenery of the Nam Ou River, as well as daily activities of local life along both riverbanks. Our first destination is Ban Houy Hoiy (Houy Hoi Village). Our guide will explain the traditional life of the tribe group and how villagers have thrived on the Nam Ou river for generations. Afterward, we return to the pier and continue to Ban Sop Kong (Sop Kong Khmu Village), a 10-minute boat ride away, where your guide will introduce the Khmu culture.
Trek to Tad Mok Waterfall & Picnic Lunch: We continue our day with a trek through typical rice paddies (approx. 1h30min) until reaching Tad Mok Waterfall—one of the nicest falls in Nong Khiaw. Reward yourself with a swim in the waterfall and a Lao picnic lunch!
Afternoon Cruise Back & Optional Kayaking: After a late lunch, we relax with a warm drink, then trek back to the river to cruise back to Nong Khiaw. (Option: You can choose to kayak 1–3 hours down the river back to Nong Khiaw—please send us a request to customize this tour).
4:00 PM – Return to Hotel: Arrive at your hotel and finish today's tour. You are free to have dinner and enjoy your second night in Nong Khiaw.

6:00 AM – Pha Daeng Peak Viewpoint Trek: Today our tour starts earlier with a 1-2 hour trek to Nong Khiaw viewpoint (Pha Daeng Peak) for incredible views above the clouds. Witness the valley below veiled in mist, with mountain peaks painted gold by the morning sun.
Downhill & Return Journey: After enjoying the spectacular panoramic view, we hike downhill and return to the hotel for lunch before heading back to Luang Prabang.
12:30 PM – Transfer to Luang Prabang: Board our transfer vehicle for the return drive.
4:30 PM – Tour Finish: Arrive safely in Luang Prabang, marking the end of your tour.
